I can do anything good. Better than anyone.

February 01, 2012

This morning my mom called me to make sure I got up on time. I used to make fun of college students who needed their moms to do this.. I'm pathetic, and I love my mom. Anyway, it worked! So I was able to get all ready and be at work on time. I cut my finger at work, but I also sliced an entire ham and turkey all by myself for the first time. accomplishments.

Then guess what we did at 11:15!? Cat, Carly, Meg, and I went to our new landlord's house to sign contracts for this little beauty! Yesterday this landlord (Janet) told Meg and Carly about the house, all together we went to look at it four different times, and we decided to go for it. It's south of campus, and older but not gross. It has a brand new bathroom, a scary basement, huge front room, washer and dryer, parking, and just look at it. It is so cute. So we're moving in for Spring term! stoked.

After lunch I spent all of English on Pinterest/Facebook while others chose to talk about Tartuffe.
I had my first clogging test today! It was bizarre because it was the first time I had ever worn my clogging shoes. But I did the best I could and I think it went alright. After the test, one girl asked me if I had ever been a cheerleader or done any kind of dance because it showed. I let myself take that as encouragement. Even if my feet aren't perfect yet, I can carry myself like a dancer so there's hope in this world.

This evening I went to the temple with my friend who hadn't been in a while. It was so good for me to see someone get that excited about going to the temple. Even when it was so busy that we were only able to do three conformations each - no baptisms at all. I really do love the temple. Everyone is so friendly and nothing in the world seems wrong when you're there.

I worked the closing shift tonight and my favorite moment was when this one man was waiting near my register for the rest of his group. While he was waiting, a few other customers had come through my line. Once when there was a gap, he got my attention and said, "You really enjoy working here, don't you?" I told him I did and he said, "I can tell. I can see it on your face." Thank you so much, sweet old man! Working at the Creamery really is such a blessing. Not only do I need a job to earn money, but I learn so much every time I work. I'm getting better too, I can tell. I love helping people. I've always told myself that whatever career I end up with, I want to be helping people. That's what makes my job right now fulfilling. And there really are very few moments when I realize I have to do something I just don't want to. Plus I meet tons of cool people at the Creamery - co-workers, customers, that sweet old man! His comment made me so happy. There was also this precious older woman who thought her husband ordered a small sundae, but later realized it was a large and came back to give me the $1.63 they owed. I don't even know if I would have done that. She was the best around.

Then I came home and talked with my roommates and burned 150 calories laughing at this video again. Bless this man's heart, the fact that I find this so hilarious may prove my immaturity.

Today was just one of those good days. One of those Jessica days where I just felt good.
My job is great. I like the temple. I like my roommates. I like to dance. I like nice people. I like my house! My house is great. I can do anything good!
