rule number one: bring snacks.

April 16, 2012

Yesterday was our last Sunday as a ward, so of course we had a Testimony Meeting. Some wards planned a two-hour meeting, skipping Sunday School. Not the 51st Ward. We're troopers. We still had both our classes - Relief Society/Priesthood and Sunday School - with a forewarning to "plan on staying a little longer." So, I planned. I brought grapes, and luckily a boy sitting in front of us brought cookies. Needless to say it was the best decision I've made in a while. Having snacks made me feel like I was just hangin' out, watching a good movie, feeling the Spirit, you know.

I really liked our testimony meeting. For the most part, everyone shared really great testimonies centered on the Savior and how much they had grown over the year. I like my ward. Oh and yes, the meeting lasted two hours. But only because Bishop Patch stood up and said we had to be out by five, otherwise I know we could have gone longer. There's nothing I love more than four hours at church, how about you?

Of course I cried. I cry a lot, okay? Michael Clawson (his voice will set your soul on fire, or so I've heard) sang "God Be With You 'Til We Meet Again." He went falsetto at the end and just oh my. I teared up. I really teared up when all our Polynesian girls sang "Abide With Me 'Tis Eventide." They are beautiful people with beautiful voices and I just love them. Then multiple testimonies made me cry - especially my FHE bros. I don't think I'm ready to send this many boys on their missions all in one summer.

After church Meg and I watched The Singles Ward. I love that movie so much. Please let my new ward be just like that.

Then we went to Ward Prayer and after that lit floating lanterns! I had a rough time. I ripped my first lantern, and as it turns out I'm not very good at using a lighter. It was way fun though. A family of Asians came up and stole some lanterns to show us how it's done. After lanterns Cat came over! It was her birthday yesterday and I love her and I get to live with her SOON.

Today I took my biology final - 82%. solid. I accept. We also took family pictures, and Brad and I made dinner. I may have also broken his camera, so pictures will follow.. you know, sometime. I promised to call Sony tomorrow and get it fixed.

I'm stoked for the rest of this week. It's funny because I'd probably never say "stoked" out loud. But, there you go. I am!

I'm horrible at commenting on blogs, but I finally remembered! :) Freshman wards are fun, huh? There's nothing quite like them anywhere else.
