f

see ya, freshman.

April 11, 2012

This has been the fastest year of my life.

I don't believe I'm nineteen, or that I've been at BYU for a whole year. I don't believe I've met friends from all across the country or that my friends from high school are now living all across the country. I don't believe that after this semester ends next week, I won't see most of my closest guy friends for two years.

I don't believe Justin Bieber's voice changed. However, if that one really did happen I'm more than okay with it.

Yesterday Meg and I went to the unforum at the Marriott Center. It was essentially a look at this past school year - BYU sports, Vocal Point's TV stint, celebrating everyday heroes on campus. They started playing a video recapping the year and I turned to Meg to ask if I was going to get emotional. She looked disgusted. and I didn't end up getting emotional.

Basically I realized that even though my freshman year wasn't perfect and I didn't get to do every single thing I wanted, I did do a lot and I did have a lot of fun.

I was at the USU football game! aaand the U of U game..
We went to True Blue football.
I danced in Christmas Around The World.
I got my first real job. and luckily, I love it.
We got lost for hours in the middle of the night.
I learned how to clog. and I love that, too.
I bought a bike.
I went ice skating, climbing, jumping, running, dancing, and biking all over this town.
I doubled my number of boyfriends and kisses.
I've seen Divine Comedy, Humor U, and Vocal Point live.

I did do things! I still have a big list of things to do before I leave BYU, but for now I'm definitely happy with what I've done so far.

Just five more finals and then four months of freedom.

Here's some food for thought: Only a mother who really loves you will call you at 7:00am to make sure you wake up for your last day of classes. Only a God who really loves you will wake you up from an unintentionally long nap twenty minutes before your final across campus starts. Looks like I have both, folks!

Today has been good, and it's only getting started. Coming soon: a trip inside the new house, a questionable dinner, final ward party of the year, floating lanterns, dancing, and staying out late because nooomoooreclassessss.

I know you are getting more out of life than the freshman at EIU. And, good for you. Even though you can't fit it all in, what you have been able to do will makes your life richer.
