angel kisses

May 11, 2012

You know what they say about freckles..

they say good things.

I always especially love freckles in black and white.
I love summer for lots of reasons, one of them being that I get more freckles. I'm so glad I've never disliked my "angel kisses" - they're a difficult thing to get rid of. Really though, through all those teenage years of wanting to change countless things about my looks I never wanted to make my freckles disappear. Plus, my freckles let me know I really am an Emmett.

Today I was scooping ice cream for a couple of elderly men when one of them turned to the other and said, "She has some angel kisses on her cheeks, doesn't she?" I know there are plenty of people out there who have more than I do, but I'm pretty happy with mine. and I honestly love when people comment on them.

Yesterday was one of those days where I came home knowing for a fact I had a lot more freckles than I had when I left home that morning. Justin took me on the longest hike of my life yesterday. and I do mean that literally, although it still isn't that impressive.

We hiked about three miles up Grove Creek Canyon to a waterfall and ate lunch. Then we went about another half mile to a spring where I refilled my water bottle with the freshest, coldest, clearest water I'd ever seen or tasted. It really amazes me how beautiful Utah is. One smaller part of the waterfall was straight out of a movie - it was so green and peaceful and seriously breathtaking. When we were on top of the mountain at the spring, I honestly felt like a Von Trapp. You know what I mean:

This is exactly how it looked. and exactly how I looked, obvi.
I'm pretty upset that my camera is at the moment misplaced. I guess it only gives me another reason to hike it again because I do it no justice trying to describe it with words. I could have stayed all day.

I did get a little sunburn, a few more angel kisses, and enough of a work out to send me into a three hour nap that afternoon. Here's to summer, sunshine, sunburns, and freckles.

staytus updaaate: Justin sent me pictures that he took of the hike.

Very trippy. But, I like it. I think I'll change mine. We'll see. I love this post though! We should hike, Erin! The hike Austin and I went on was 3 1/2 miles up (...and 3 1/2 back...) and I'm sure you did a lot less whining than me :)
