Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!

June 06, 2012

My Grandma Emmett has one of those old school player pianos at her house. When we were little, my cousins and I would sit at it and pound out the Annie soundtrack. I'm pretty sure "Maybe" "It's the Hard-Knock Life" and "Tomorrow" were our best and our favorites.

A while back, I found this treasure in the $5 movie bin at Wal-Mart. I bought it, ovi.

An even shorter while back, a British girl told me, "I mean this in a really flattering way. You remind me of Annie." The little orphan? Yes. I guess short curly hair and freckles is all it takes! I told her I was flattered, but mostly just because that was how she intended it to be and warned me ahead of time.

Well today I finally watched Annie! I forgot how perfect it is. I forgot about the part where Annie beats up two boys in an alley. I forgot about when she tries to prove to Grace that she's "intelligent" by mouthing "M-I-double S-I-double S-I-double P-I." I forgot about how cool Grace and Daddy Warbucks are. I forgot about Punjab! Gosh, what did I remember? I definitely forgot about how great the choreography is, and how much I love Molly. And I never even realized Edward Herrmann plays FDR! Probably because the last time I watched Annie I didn't know who Edward Herrmann was..

Please watch this movie soon. If you don't own it, come to my house and we'll watch it together. Also, please come prepared to sing along.
