Of church-y, Book of Mormon type things.

October 31, 2012

Sometimes I don't remember if I've already put things on here. So if I ever say something twice and anyone happens to notice, just assume that double-posted information must be very important.

Let your light so shine before men,
that they may see your good works,
and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 5:16

My Book of Mormon teacher said once that we need to let our light shine but we also need to let our voices speak. It's great to share and teach by example, but don't be afraid to also share and teach by.. sharing. and.. teaching.

So that's why I feel perfectly fine typing out things I believe and posting them on this little blog.

If you skipped all that first stuff, here's what you really came here to read. Thoughts from my Book of Mormon class! I like this class. Also I found a list of college goals I made when I was still in high school and one of them was to get A's in all my religion classes. So cross your fingers for me on this Book of Mormon test tomorrow. And back to my point..

People in the Book of Mormon consider their parents to be "goodly" if they taught their children, in addition to nurturing them. I'm still terrified of ever having children, but I'm slowly becoming a little excited for it to happen someday. When it does I want to teach my kids everything I possibly can. I want them to write in their little journals and refer to me as "goodly." Kids still do that, right?

Inspired by Enos:
Saying a mighty prayer has nothing to do with length, and everything to do with intent.

If you're going through the repentance process and you want to know if you've been forgiven, a good indication is whether you are filled with the Spirit. The Spirit doesn't dwell in unholy places. The Spirit does work as a purifier.

When was the last time you (I) had a spiritual experience?
This morning during your scripture study?
Last Sunday at church?
Last General Conference?
I want to make them more frequent. I know how.
