first day(s) in the park.

January 14, 2013

When your first ever visit to Disneyworld is a twenty minute speedwalk down Main Street USA that begins and ends in the underground tunnels below Magic Kingdom.. I don't know, you must be me.

first ever in-park sighting. ooohahhh.
On Friday all the CPs (College Program cast members (no one at Disneyworld is an employee. We are all cast members.)) went through Traditions - a four hour class that should have taken two hours. and would have, had I been the instructor. We went over all the aims of the Walt Disney Company, a little history, a bunch of safety videos, and then we also took a briefer than brief tour of Magic Kingdom. Okay, one street in Magic Kingdom. That twenty minute tour was kind of surreal. I felt really privileged to enter through the tunnels and just to be there in general, seeing everything I was seeing - characters, a parade, the castle, cute shops and balloon vendors - but then there was a tinge of sadness inside me because my first visit to the happiest place of earth wasn't spent with my best friends or family by my side. Whatever. I'll take what I get 'cause it's fo' freee. also at Disneyworld it's kind of hard and ridiculous and ungrateful to be sad.

So that afternoon after Traditions and lunch some of my roommates and I went back! We spent time in Adventureland and Frontierland, which are.. not my favorites. Everything was old-timey or western or Huck Finn status, and that stuff is great.. when I'm not at Disneyworld. You know what I want to see while I'm at Disneyworld? Princesses. Castles. Mickey Mouse.

giddy as could be after our double dose of space mountain.
But you know what else I really like? Rollercoasters. Friday night while the fireworks and show at the castle were booming louder than all heck, two of my roommates and I rode Space Mountain twice. and that made me pretty happy. As of now it's one of my very, very favorite things. So my Friday night was a little more fun than my Friday.. day.

Despite the fact that I spent half of Friday in Magic Kingdom, two of my roommates decided Saturday would be my real first (third) visit. They've both been to Disneyworld tons and tons of times so they agreed to be my tour guides. Saturday morning we stopped by the cast member discount store where I bought my sweet new Keds, then made our way to the happiest place on earth. I picked up my "First Visit!" pin, met characters, rode Space Mountain, took a picture with the castle, saw the new Fantasyland, rode the teacups.. Saturday was a really good first visit.

it's important to be on good terms with your boss.
and i'm five years old all over again.
just chatting. do i look taller than cindy in this one?

Also, I started a tally of:
- how many days I've been in the park (2)
- how many times I've ridden Space Mountain (3)

fireworks from across the lake before we could get into the park.
pumped up $9 kicks.

True story about Frontier land. Don't get stuck on the Huck Finn / Mark Twainy ride. That crap sucks.

I hope you get stuck on the Huck Finn ride because NOBODY EMAILS ME BACK EVER. Jk you're probably on the internets a lot less than me...which is weird considering I can only be here and on my email and blog... Glad your first (real) visit was everything you dreamed of!
