humidity makes me feel at home.

January 10, 2013

My sweetest parents drove me to the Indianapolis airport on Monday. We ate some McDonald's, took this adorable, sentimental treasure of a picture, and then I was off! Probably my favorite part of this airport experience was waiting in line at security and looking back down the hallway to see my cute, little parents still standing where we said goodbye, waiting until I was out of their sight. I love those two.

flying over water near baltimore. molly doesn't like deep water.

My flights were awesome. Neither was full, so I had window seats both times. I actually never slept! I read my book (Heaven is Here) both flights. It's hard to put down! I was laughing or tearing up the whole time. especially on my second flight where the guy next to me seemed a little concerned. Really though, I never noticed when a stewardess came by our row because I was so into this book. The guy next to me always had to get my attention to ask if I wanted a drink or peanuts or needed to throw away my trash.

The Orlando airport threw me for a loop. I found baggage claim okay, but finding the Disney Magical Express kiosk was a trip. I found it though, and made it to my hotel. I stayed at the Disney All-Star Sports Resort with three girls from BYU-Idaho. We were too late to go swimming, but made an extra trip to the front desk to see our new British friend, Dan. He was so nice. ..to look at. ahem.

Check-in was early the next morning. From 8:00am we spent about four or five hours waiting in lines, signing papers, getting fingerprinted, picking up schedules.. bleh. But we finally made it to our apartment! It's pre-tty precious. and huge. We have four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms, too many closets to count, one sweet balcony, huge walls and lots of windows, aaand eight girls. We've had so much fun so far.

nametags and stickers and smiles and mickey.
all star sports resort avec palm trees and large basketballs.
brigitte struggles with locking her keys in her car. ..twice since we've been here.

A couple trips to Wal-Mart, Dollar Tree, the mall.. Downtown Disney and the Boardwalk. We've really had a lot of free time this first week. Today we have a housing meeting, and tomorrow is our first day of "work"/training. I think we're going to swim this afternoon, and Friday we finally get our passes that get us into the parks freeeee. I don't have my first really day of training until Tuesday, so I'll be playing in Disneyworld all weekend. I like my life.

the best white elephant gift. i've already used it twice! sandwiches and eggs, it's too perfect.
disney boardwalk.

So far the program is a funny mix of feeling very on my own and very at summer camp. We have our own apartment, but a curfew to be inside our complex. We have to follow the "Disney Look" guidelines - neutral nail polish, no crazy hair, professional dress at our meetings.. but during our free time we can go swimming or play all over Disneyworld. It's definitely a mix of feelings.

I feel like once we start working I'll have a system and figure everything out and feel more comfortable. I'm also terrified of this bus system I'm supposed to use to get everywhere. also Florida winter really does feel like summer in Illinois.

And for anyone keeping tabs, I've run the past two days. Don't ask me how far, but I did it. Also I've been reading a lot, so I'm kind of on fire.
