graduation and pirates, traveling and you.

March 09, 2013

Thursday was our College Program Graduation! ..nope, I'm not coming home. ..yet. I still have about a month left on my program, but they only hold these graduation parties every few months. So we celebrated early!

minnie's all pullin' on my hair cuz she jealous of it.

That night I worked with Mr. Smee again! I love that pirate. Working with him is a breeeze. I mean, it's really fun! No, it is. And I worked with some other really cool people that night, too. My new friend, Pablo, and I discussed all the differences between Spain and the US: the amount of fresh vs. packaged food in supermarkets, the price of.. everything, how difficult it is to receive a driver's license, restrictions on alcohol consumption.. He also told me all the best ways to backpack through Europe, and showed me pictures of his gorgeous Colombian girlfriend. ..We had a long break.

Pablo has traveled the world quite a bit and found it kind of amazing that I haven't ever left the US. He also couldn't believe I don't want to extend my program here. I do love it, and I'm having a blast. But I miss my mountains and my family and I want to finish school. We did both agree I need to travel, though.

smee's legs are half the size of his arms? it's fine.

When I mentioned to Pablo that I've thought about serving a mission for my church, he said it sounded like a great idea. Not only could it hold the possibility of me finally traveling overseas, but, in his own words (or something close to them), "I'm not religious, but I think it would be wonderful to spend a year and a half of your life just helping people." Amen, Pablo.

Also we ate free cake, ice cream, and candy to our pirate hearts' content.

Such a happy day with good people.

[Whoever you are, thanks so much for reading this. I know I always say this blog is for me so I don't worry about whether anyone else likes it, but it really does make me happy to know some of you do. I think I had a record four comments on my last post, and I just love knowing something I said on here made you smile or laugh or think or anything.]

I always read your blog, too! I just don't comment as much as I should :) Pablo sounds legit. I like him. And Mr. Smee is cute. I'm so glad you get to work with a variety so many different people. I'm glad you love it there! I knew it would either end up being SUPER awesome or SUPER lame (like, not at all what you expected). I'm so relieved it's been so wonderful... but you have to come home! Your family misses you! :)
