ahh, life.

June 18, 2014

Lately my showers have been setting off our smoke alarm.. Lately as in twice this week, and isn't that a lot? Unfortunately for Stefan, he's always the one who has to make the alarm stop beeping because I'm, well.. you know, busy. So this morning he took care of it like a champ, but then two minutes after he left it started beeping again and I was mid-condition! I rushed out to make it stop, knowing it was pre-8:00AM and my neighbors likely weren't thrilled with the noise.

But then, I'm not exactly thrilled with the neighbor below us who leaves windows wide open all night. I'm almost positive the loud clanking noise that wakes me up early every morning is made by those left-wide-open windows.

Anyway, so there I am standing in our living room/entryway/bedroom in just my towel and I don't even know what else I can do to stop the beeping! Stefan had left all four of our windows wide open (no clanking) and there wasn't even any "smoke" or steam anywhere near the thing! I started swinging the bathroom door open and shut to air out the area, and then there was a knock on the door. I don't even know why I opened the door wearing only a towel, don't ask me why I did. Times like these are stressful!

But open the door I did and there was our building manager holding a Superman coffee mug and looking so embarrassed as soon as he saw me. It wasn't his fault! He came to help, and I made him uncomfortable. But still he came in, took the alarm down, pulled the battery out, and only made eye contact with the floor as he left. Also he left his Superman mug on my table.. I got dressed and took the mug down to his office but he wasn't in there. And I don't know why I did this part either but I left the mug on the floor by his locked office door.

I didn't want to go looking for him! More like, he didn't want me to go looking for him. I don't know why I wasn't more embarrassed about the whole morning, but I did think it was really kind of him to thank me as I passed his office later for bringing the mug back. He's a good guy.

Who knows why I didn't think to snag a picture of the Superman mug, but here's a different and still great picture instead. The unnamed man sitting next to me in church this past Sunday caught a couple minutes of the soccer game during one of the hymns.. But then he gave a really great (so I heard) lesson in Priesthood a couple hours later so I'd say he earned a few minutes of Sacrament Meeting soccer. ;)

Apparently superman comes in different varieties.

You may want to tell that guy you sat next to in church to not wear his orange futbol jersey in Spain. They may still be a bit touching about losing to the Dutch. Also, say hola to Miguel Indurain, if you see him. He was the great Spaniard Tour de France champion after Greg LeMond and before Lance. I often referred to his impressive aerobic fitness level and low resting heart rate of 28 in my classes back in the 1990s.

p.s. Like Lance, Indurain likely cheated, but again, don't bring that up that topic either.

The man watching futbol during sacrament may be unnamed, but I recognize his watch. Busted
