thanks for the berries, bye

August 25, 2014

On Saturday we went berry picking on Sauvie Island! Sauvie Island doesn't feel like an island because it's an island in a river.. but it is such a beautiful place. It has lots of farm land and felt like a perfect place for a long bike ride. AND the bridge we took to the island is my favorite bridge in Portland, so there's that.

The extent of our berry picking story goes like this: We went so late in the season that the only thing left to pick were blackberries which were already very picked over. We spent way too long trying to find the right field (so many were dead and closed, plus the map of this place was laaame) and then spent just the right amount of time picking not quite two pounds of berries in the hot sun. We had so much fun! We should have done this a million times all summer! I'm so glad we got to do it once. We turned all our berries into smooooothies.

This is probably the last post from Portland! One more day of work for me, lots of packing and cleaning for both of us, then hopefully back in Provo by Tuesday night. It's bittersweet, but I think we're ready.

^^^ hehe, where's Stefan?

Such fun - fresh berry smoothies! I'm so glad you could go berry picking before you left for home. And you look adorable. :)
