the brocks

November 24, 2014

It looks like November may only be getting two blog posts this year.. oops. Two good ones, I hope!

Way back in September, right after we made it back to Provo, Stefan and I went to a rooftop concert in downtown Provo. I don't think we had ever heard any of the bands playing that night, but only one of them really caught our attention. Really caught our attention. Their catchiest song was called "Summer Nights" and we looked it up (see also: played it on repeat for multiple days) right after the concert ended. And that is when we declared ourselves The Brocks' biggest fans.

Mid-October rolls around and we had tickets to see a different band play in Salt Lake one night. But once we realized The Brocks were playing a concert in Provo the same night, we decided to throw away our twenty dollar tickets for the Salt Lake show and see The Brocks for eight dollars in Provo instead. Are we their official number one fans yet? This conversation even happened at that show:

The Brocks: Thanks for coming, guys! How many of you saw us for the first time at the rooftop concert?
Stefan: Yeaaahhh! I'll never miss another show!
The Brocks: ...cool.

At the end of that show we talked with the band a little bit (see also: Stefan and Taylor (duh, Taylor was there) pitched their marketing services to the band). For the record, they are the nicest guys you'll ever meet. We ended up helping them with some chalk art advertising (apparently considered "vandalism" at BYU, fyi..) and pre-sale tickets for their next show, which was this past Friday night.

They played at Cowboys and Indies, a two night show that features some folk groups and some indie groups - bands who usually wouldn't share the stage at a concert. It was so fun, especially because we sold a ton of pre-sale tickets to all our friends so we had a huge group right up front for The Brocks' set.

So you should go check out Summer Nights because it's on iTunes and so goooood.

Thanks for the music recommendation. I'm always looking for new tunes. As for the chalking, sometimes it is better to ask for forgiveness rather than permission.
