one long, lovely weekend

^^^ The prettiest flowers from Stefan. He picked them because he thought I would like the leafy things sticking out on the right, and I do

We had the best weekend. In case you missed it, Friday the 13th was our one year wedding anniversary! So needless to say, this was a big weekend. An anniversary, Valentine's day, and a day off of school thanks to the Presidents. USA!

On Friday afternoon, we headed down the hill to the temple. I decided to make it a tradition to do sealings for our anniversary ever year. I think it is really special that we have that opportunity to basically relive our wedding, remind ourselves of some very important things, and give such a beautiful gift to others that way. So we started our celebration by spending some time in the temple, and it was perfect. After checking out a few places for dinner, we ended up at Zupas. It sounded so good! Sidenote, every time I go to Zupas I tell myself to try something new. I never do and even if I do, I regret it. I always look at the salads and think, "Yes. That looks so healthy and good for me and I will have the Ultimate Grilled Cheese and some Wisconsin Cauliflower soup, please." Carbs for life. Except! Chocolate covered strawberries for life, too. And somehow I always get the tiniest strawberries, with this time being no exception. Good thing I have the world's best husband who loves me a lot and gave me his huge strawberry! This incoming picture of me is truly awful (can I get bangs yet? hashtag huge forehead) but look at that berry!

After dinner we went home and got all snuggly to watch a chick flick. Some website recommended The Holiday, and.. well, we do not recommend it. Cameron Diaz's character was just, way too much. And sorry but, definitely not a good fit for Jude Law's character. The whole thing moved at a weird pace, and there was so much going on it was all really surface level and just.. strange. Anyway, the snuggling was good.

On Valentine's Day we woke up and made chocolate chip pancakes with strawberriesmmmm. Then we spent a huge chunk of the day writing an ethics paper and watching Lost. I'll leave it to you to decide who did which. When we finally got our day going, we went to the grocery store - which was surprisingly crowded! Last minute red rose shoppers, I tell you - and bought the ingredients (minus the right noodles) to make Greek macaroni. Stefan loves it and I had never had it, but now I've had it and I love it too! So simple to make, but so yummy. Kudos to the Smith's deli employee who went above and beyond to find us the right cheese.

Then Stefan made one of the greatest suggestions in all of history and proved for the ten millionth time that weekend that he is in fact my favorite human and my true soulmate. I know, you've already guessed it. He suggested we watch Boy Meets World! We did browse through Netflix for a few minutes, but when we couldn't get excited about anything there we decided to find an old show we liked and it was the best.

On Sunday we went to my cousin's missionary homecoming and saw a lot of my family, which was great. Then we visited some friends in our ward and had more friends over to our house for dinner. Monday was slow - Stefan worked, I ran, we both hung up a lot of pictures, I think we might have napped.. It was so nice. I know that weekend might sound low key or even boring (especially compared to every other couple who hiked through southern Utah all weekend..), but it was perfect for us. We spent so much time together just the two of us. No schedule or stress. It was bliss.

^^^ And we loved finding these cards in the mail from some lovely people who remembered our anniversary! So sweet.
