I'm combining an Easter post with a happy list over here because Easter is the happiest holiday. Also because I usually use pictures from my phone for the happy lists but my phone was going bizerk (just spent five minutes looking up "berserk" "berzerk" etc. and found no suitable spelling so I'm going with the one I made up) last week, so I don't have many picture options.

But our Easter was so great! I decided I wanted to decorate at least a little because I figured, anything to help us remember it's a special day. We don't have any real Easter-specific pictures of Christ, but I did put out this one of Christ and Peter, plus our little wooden nativity. We have both of them out on a shelf all the time, but relocating them for the holiday made us notice them more. Then I decided to grab a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store, and I made those egg banners from a bunch of free Home Depot paint swatches. I feel the need to admit I did not come up with that egg banner idea on my own.. In fact it's a goal of mine now to come up with something really creative and unique all on my own someday soon because most of the time when I make something Stefan asks, "Did you come up with this?" and I have to say no and feel like a loser. Anyway, I found it on Merrick's Art's instagram. Follow her if you want to regret not accepting all your mom's offers to teach you how to sew when you were young. She is an incredible seamstress and artist.

I also had another goal to make homemade cinnamon rolls for the first time this Conference weekend. I ended up just buying a pre-made pan because I decided homemade cinnamon rolls and a homemade Easter dinner all in one weekend - one weekend that is supposed to be relaxing - was asking a little too much of me. Also we're still trying to finish off that pan of cinnamon rolls, so that's how I know it's not too late to do an Easter post.

Whenever I do make homemade cinnamon rolls someday, I'm just going to grab a recipe from pinterest. Unless anyone reading this has the world's best recipe - then I would much rather steal that from you so I know the rolls will be good! Also I do really want to come up with my own creative craft soon, but if there are any other genius Easter DIY decorations out there, send them my way! I loved this egg banner one because it was free, simple, and - in my opinion - the cutest thing I've ever seen. Next year I'd really love to have more decorations - they honestly help make holidays more special for me.

For dinner that night I just did an easy, yummy chicken and broccoli and lots of cheese crock pot meal that we put over rice, plus some biscuit rolls filled with mozzarella. We ate it outside at a little backyard picnic for two because the weather was dreeeamy. It was a perfect weekend! LDS General Conference falling on Easter weekend seriously rivals the excitement of Christmas, but kind of in its own unique way. I love it.

And now the list:

// Selling a bunch of our stuff at the on-campus yard sale. It actually felt so good seeing people excited to buy something from us! But it also felt so good to get rid of that much junk.. / Playing our most fun game of Monopoly yet with Stefan, and winning for the first time ever! / The process to fixing my phone actually being really simple. / Everyone's nice comments on the glamor shot I posted on instagram. I'm not kidding, I laugh every time I look at it! Something about it is a little over the top for me/not really my style. That pose.. but I do think it's a cute picture. And a really handsome one of Stefan. / How often Kate and I lean over to each other and make comments during classes and how we always both agree with and laugh about whatever comment was made. This week: "I hate when people do that." "Me too. That's why we're friends." //

You're not a loser! Remember that one time when you made those Frankenstein rice krispies?! Those were awesome!

I regret not doing more to prepare for Easter weekend in the past. It is the best weekend of the year followed by Thanksgiving "weekend" and I should have given it more attention. But, I've changed my ways and it's made a big difference. Next year I need to add more decorations (and. like you, good food!) to help me prepare better for Easter.

I still love going through that Eric Huntsman book (or at least parts of it) each year. This year I just took a half hour or so to read a little bit between Conference sessions and it was awesome.
