June 29, 2015

Maybe you noticed, maybe you didn't, I took a break from blogging. For whatever reason, it wasn't fun anymore. I felt like I didn't have anything to say, but I was still putting all this work into it. I felt like I was wasting my time.

So I took a break. I finished some more classes, I worked a lot. In a moment of "I don't like this blog right now so no one else can like it either!" I made it private so no one could read it. I'm sorry if you thought I had only invited my favorite people to read it and you weren't one of them. I didn't invite anyone! I barely posted anything! Just a few things I wanted to remember, but didn't care if anyone else read. Trust me, you weren't missing out. I basically did stats homework all day everyday for six weeks and now we're all caught up.

But I'm back, because I do love blogging. This has always been the best place for me to sort out my feelings through writing. The best place to keep track of all the good and bad and exciting and mundane and embarrassing and beautiful things I want to keep track of. I like my little speck of the internet. Despite all the old embarrassing posts I am regularly tempted to delete, my lack of impressive photography skills, and how all too often I feel like I can't find the right words. I like it here.

A weekend in Ashton, Idaho! If we're Facebook friends, you've probably seen all the pictures and one killer western video already. But it's alllll coming here, too.

A ten day trip to Israel with Stefan's whole family! Yes, you read that sentence correctly! Yes, we are the luckiest humans!

All the summer things because no more school until fall! If this were a vlog we would all be slow clap chanting sum-mer.. SUM-MER. SUM-MER! SUMMMERRRRR! right now. After typing that so many times I'm not totally sure if I know how to spell summer anymore... Is summer even a word? You know the feeling.

So cheers to the hot season, however it's spelled, and cheers to blogging!

.    .    .

Ah, yes! The name changed! I feel like I kind of outgrew the old one. It started sounding so weird to me every time I said it or read it. I always knew it was kind of weird, but I guess it grew even more weird. Or maybe became less funny. I still thinks it's funny, but less so than before.

I like this new name because I say it and hear it alllll the time. Growing up I knew Aarons and Erins, but it was never confusing. All the girls spelled it E-r-i-n and all the boys spelled it A-a-r-o-n. Everyone knew how to spell both names, and we used last names to distinguish between all of us. But ever since I moved to Utah I've met Aarons and Erins and Arins and Eryns and people who have never heard the name used for a girl and people who have never seen the spelling E-r-i-n. Also I heard of three boy Erins all in one day a few weeks ago. Needless to say, my world has been totally rocked.

But I am E-r-i-n. Girl Erin. I love my name and I love how I spell it and I love being a girl. We even have a little boy named Aaron in the class we teach at church, and he seriously calls me Girl Erin without me ever asking him to. I really like it. And would you look at that logo up there my husband made for me!? It's so beautiful sometimes I tear up when I look at it. Anyway, I hope we all like the blog's new name because I think it's going to stick around for a while.
