A LITTLE UPDATE

September 11, 2015

I'm writing this little update partly because I talked with my grandma on the phone this morning and she asked for one - hi, Grandma! - and partly because a few things happened that I do want to remember. A few things I don't want to remember also happened, but what can we do about those things really.

I'll start with Swiss Days so this part of the update will be over quickly. Swiss Days was kind of a bust for me. I want to say I'm glad I did it anyway, that it was a learning experience, blah blah blah. And I guess I can say those things. And I kind of mean them. But also I really overdid it that weekend. I tried to do too much and I was so so tired and I felt like I was doing everything halfway, which I really don't like. Aside from all that, I have one million prints left over so if anyone was even considering maybe wanting one, you know where to find me for a big old discount price.

Okay, phew. On to better news. That weekend was also Meg's wedding! Meg and I were roommates/bff all through college, right up until I got married. I mean, only the roommate part ended when I got married. We're still bff. I think. Yikes.

It wasn't necessarily love at first sight for our friendship (Meg thought I was mean. Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't.) but once we bonded over our mutual love for Jack's Mannequin and told each other all our stories involving boys there was really no turning back. The point being, it is my personal belief that Meg literally found the most perfect human for her to marry. Their entire wedding was so beautiful, and I honestly haven't been this happy for many other newlyweds. Plus Stefan and I are in serious need of some married friends up in here, so score for us!

Schooool-wise... So far this is the best semester ever, for a number of reasons: 1. I only have classes on Monday and Wednesday. I REPEAT! Okay, I won't repeat it. But will you at least re-read it? It is the absolute best thing I have experienced ever. 2. None of my classes start with "BUS M." NO business classes! Only angel choirs singing! 3. I don't have any huge classes in giant auditoriums where everyone who gets to class first sits on the edge of the rows and I have to climb over them to get to a seat in the middle. Because doing that is the absolute worst thing I have experienced ever. 4. I have friends or am quickly making friends in most of my classes. (I have this one class where I seriously don't belong. For unknown reasons, the professor does not like me and also I feel like I have nothing in common with anyone in the class.) BUT going back to what I said before, I am quickly making friends! I have never quickly made a friend. I am not good at making friends. See also: that paragraph up there where I said Meg hated me when we first met. #typical But I have this half credit Flexibility/Functional Fitness class I have to take, and there are some really cool girls in there and we are bonding. (I know, what is a flexibility/functional fitness class!? So far we've been learning how to rub out our tight muscles without stretching - AKA using those big foam rollers and little kabob sticks, plus softball, lacrosse, and golf balls. I really like it! I barely break a sweat, but I'm kind of being a little active right in the middle of my day which is nice.

Stefan got a new calling at church - Executive Secretary. As far as I can tell, he's doing a great job! I'm still teaching the nine year olds in Primary, and Stefan comes in to help me when he's not busy. Right now we're getting ready for the Primary Program, and it is the best. These kids are so cute and so hilarious, I love when Stefan is in there with me so we can look at each other every time something good happens.

I think that covers most of what's happening over here. Oh, we also went Labor Day shopping and bought a TV and a cute bookshelf to put it on! We decided since we'll be staying put for at least another year before we move anywhere, we want to start making our home feel more like our home. And let me just say, we are off to a great start. We had to rearrange our living room to fit our new toys (seriously the TV is a toy for Stefan/both of us, and decorating the rest of this bookshelf is basically a toy for me) and we are both obsessed with this room now. So, if you need me I will be buying/making autumn-y decorations for my continually new and improving apartment. Because fall never lasts long enough anyway, so let's get going!

Erin, you are the cutest! Thanks for taking Savannah under your wing. She looks up to you so much and you are also a piece of home (which she misses way more than she ever thought she would)! I'm so glad you are there. :)

What boy stories? Like, ones from books you read?

I love having her out here! And I know that feeling of missing home all too well, so this is perfect for both of us!

Always fun to read your blog! Sorry about Swiss Days...I had one of those and all those crazy memories surfaced. I had a homeless guy latch onto me. He started by helping me set up....it was kinda what they did in Nashville TN. It was no big deal...but he just hung around..almost the ENTIRE 2 days. THAT was a little creepy. He even bought me a gift....crazy weird. Was more than happy to have THAT weekend O.V.E.R. If I would have sold stuff...maybe it would have been ok. But...we will stop there.
Glad everything else is going great. My favorite classes at BYU (aside from the really necessary classes - ha!) were jogging and canoeing!!! hahaha
Keep being awesome!!!
