Last weekend some of my very best friends threw me a baby shower in my hometown! I honestly never thought I would live so close to home again, but it is definitely proving to have its perks. I also honestly thought I would take more pictures of this event - like with my mom, or my sister and sister-in-law who were in town, or any of the other wonderful friends and neighbors and teachers who came to the shower.. nope. I guess we were all having too much fun catching up, and I can't complain about that.

And yes, I included teachers in that list of people who came. Sooomeone called me a nerd for inviting a couple of my favorite high school teachers. hahaha. It takes a village to raise a child, people! They helped raise me, and I wanted them to be part of the celebration as I enter the world of raising my own.

I also got to see lots of sweet ladies from church who I seriously love to death. We had a conversation yesterday about how people say they just love babies or elderly people or animals.. Am I weird to love middle aged people? I feel like the age gap is perfect - where I can connect with them, but they still have some things to teach me and I can go to them for advice. And some of them are right on the cusp of getting "old," so while they're still "cool" they're also slowly turning into funny old people without knowing it. I look up to so many middle aged people. But I don't stop looking up to them once they're "old!" You know what I mean. Maybe.

^^^ I distinctly remember this conversation - talking about how often we wash our hair. Important stuff.

^^^ I wanted to take pictures of all the yummy treats and cute decorations, but I got a late start. People started arriving, so this was the only one I have. But that yogurt bar was incredible! I need more homemade parfaits in my life. And you can just barely see a plate full of my mom's "secret recipe" oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, which I also requested. She's probably had the not-so-secret recipe memorized since she was ten, and I have probably eaten thousands of those cookies in my lifetime. Roughly one thousand last week alone. mmm.

^^^ I snuck in one last picture at the end of the party when it was getting dark. I'll never be able to thank everyone enough for all the love Stefan and I - and especially our little baby man! - felt being home and being spoiled all week. We're the luckiest.
